WASHINGTON, D.C. - Representative Steve Daines sent a press release
yesterday about bipartisan legislation that protects Montana volunteer
firefighters and veterans from Obamacare regulations and the law's
employer mandate.
The Protecting Volunteer Firefighters and Emergency Responders Act of
2014 and Hire More Heroes Act of 2013, both of which are co-sponsored
by Daines and passed with strong bipartisan support today, seek to
protect volunteer fire departments from costly fines and work to
incentivize small businesses to hire more veterans.
"Hundreds of Montana communities rely on volunteer firefighters for
critical services. It's unconscionable that Obamacare's overreaching
mandates could jeopardize the security of our volunteer fire
departments and their ability to keep our communities safe," Daines
stated. "It's also unacceptable that those same regulations threaten
small businesses' ability to hire qualified veterans. I'm proud to
join the House in passing bipartisan solutions that put the men and
women who serve our nation and communities first and protect them from
the consequences of the President's overreaching mandates."
