Daines Announces Hiring of Tribal Liaison

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Montana Representative Steve Daines today announced the hiring of Amanda Peterman as Tribal Liaison, where she will lead Daines' outreach to Montana's Native Americans and tribal communities.

Peterman, an enrolled member of the Apsáalooke (Crow) Tribe, grew up in Boyd and graduated from Joliet High School. She studied Social Work at the University of Montana, where she was elected Vice President of the Associated Students of The University of Montana (ASUM) and advocated for Native American students. Peterman resides in Hardin with her husband, Will, and newborn daughter, Eleanna.

"More than 75,000 Native Americans call Montana home, and as our state's sole member of the House of Representatives, I'm committed working alongside Montana's Native Americans and ensuring their voices are heard," Daines stated. "Amanda will be a great asset to our team and our work with Montana's tribes, and I look forward to having her on board as we continue to serve Montana's Native Americans."

As Daines' Tribal Liaison, Peterman will work with Montana's reservations and the state-recognized Little Shell Tribe. Peterman will serve as a liaison between Montana's tribal members and federal agencies and will lead Daines' tribal outreach efforts.

Daines serves as a member of the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Indian and Alaska Native Affairs and the Congressional Native American Caucus.
