On the final day for candidates to file for office, the Montana Republican Party released a statement about their legislative recruiting efforts. Party Chairman Will Deschamps said the following:
"This is going to be a great year for Montana Republicans! We have over 145 Republicans running for legislature, and a strong field of candidates for other races as well. In this off-year election, we're highly confident of retaining our majorities in the State Senate and House and Public Service Commission. With a great field of U.S. House candidates, keeping that seat in Republican hands is one of our top priorities. And of course, Montanans are ready for a U.S. Senator who supports restoring our health care freedom, building the Keystone Pipeline, and cutting the government red tape that keeps our businesses from creating jobs. 2014 is going to be a Republican year, and these great Republican candidates are living proof. It's never about one candidate or one seat, it's about the fact that Montanans want more jobs and less government. That's what Republicans deliver."
